David Suendermann-Oeft - Curriculum Vitae


I am founder and CEO of Modality.AI, Inc., a digital health startup in San Francisco, delivering self-driven neurological assessments. Throughout my career, I have been working in the field of spoken language processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence at multiple industrial and academic institutions including Siemens (Munich and Mexico City), RWTH (Aachen), UPC (Barcelona), USC (Los Angeles), Columbia University (New York), SpeechCycle (New York), Synchronoss (New York), ICSI (Berkeley), EMR.AI (San Francisco), and Kasisto (New York) and have held appointments as tenured professor of computer science and department head at DHBW Stuttgart. I was also the director of the Dialog, Multimodal, and Speech (DIAMONDS) research center and manager of the San Francisco Office at Educational Testing Service (ETS). I have authored over 180 publications and patents including two books and eleven book chapters and serve as evaluator, rapporteur, and innovation expert for the European Commission and expert for the National Science Foundation.
